Sometimes, It’s Better Just to STFU

After 11 car bomb attacks in Iraq yesterday, which killed over 50 people and injured scores more, you just knew some specious statement like this would be issued:

‘¦Despite Friday’™s bloody toll, the U.S. military maintained that attacks are diminishing overall in Iraq.

‘œWe see these attacks as another desperate attempt by the terrorists to discredit [...]

‘œWe see these attacks as another desperate attempt by the terrorists to discredit the newly formed Iraqi government’ and ‘œdrive a wedge between the Iraqi people and their right to choose their own destiny,’ the military said in a statement Friday’¦

It’™s hard to believe anyone could say that with a straight face. For the 2,347th time.

Update, 5/1/05, 2PM EDT: Car Bomb Blast at Iraqi Funeral Kills 20. I can’™t keep up anymore. The place seems completely out of control.
