During a rally held in Salt Lake City yesterday, thousands cheered Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson as he blasted George Bush as a ‘œdishonest, war-mongering, human-rights-violating president.’

‘¦

‘œA patriot does not tell people who are intensely concerned about their country to just sit down and be quiet; to refrain from speaking out in the name of politeness or for the sake of being a good host; to show slavish, blind obedience and deference to a dishonest, war-mongering, human-rights-violating president,’ Mayor Anderson told the crowd, estimated by organizers to number between 4,000 and 5,000

‘¦

‘œWe will continue to resist the lies, the deceptions, the outrages of the Bush administration and this complacent, complicit, go-along Congress,’ Anderson said. ‘œWe must pursue peace as vigorously as the Bush administration has pursued war.’

Anderson told the crowd, ‘œWe are here to say’¦’™no more God-is-on-our-side religious nonsense to justify this immoral, illegal war.’™’

Video excerpt of Anderson’™s speech is here.

Full transcript of Anderson’™s speech is featured in the Salt Lake City Tribune. And the related SLCT article is here.
