Really, they said they had rules right there in the New York Times yesterday. In a story about the feeding frenzy over the Hillary Clinton Barack Obama rumors, a Fox News spokesman stated what one of those rules are.
And in an interview, John Moody, a senior vice president at Fox News, said its commentators had erred by citing the Clinton-Obama report. “The hosts violated one of our general rules, which is know what you are talking about,” Mr. Moody said. “They reported information from a publication whose accuracy we didn’t know.”
Of course, they did know the accuracy of Insight Magazine, as did the Washington Times, who should be commended for once for not slavishly following complete lies such as this rumor. Fox News may have a rule about knowing what you’re talking about and only reporting from sources they can verify, they simply don’t enforce their own rules.
