10/19/2006 - Weeks prior to the release of the Iraq Study Group findings, Tony Snow was already laying the groundwork for the Bush regime to ignore the ISG recommendations:
MR. SNOW: The White House — yes, the White House listens to the generals...
So what our view is, we continue to support the generals in any we can, and in any way they find fitting. And we also understand that based on changing conditions in Baghdad and elsewhere, they may be asking for different things at different times and we’re going to supply them; we’re going to support them fully.
2/1/2007 - Oh, yeah? And did the regime listen to the guy who was commanding the whole mission (whatever that is) in Iraq? Apparently not.
Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee on his nomination to be Army chief of staff, Gen. George Casey said he had asked for two additional Army brigades, based on recommendations of his subordinate commanders. Bush announced Jan. 10 that he would send five extra brigades as part of a buildup that would total 21,500 soldiers and Marines.
Asked by Sen. John Warner (news, bio, voting record), R-Va., why he had not requested the full five extra brigades that Bush is sending, Casey said, “I did not want to bring one more American soldier into Iraq than was necessary to accomplish the mission.”
George Bush listens to no one except Dick Cheney, Fred Kagan, and the voices in his own head.

Word is breaking today that the Bush administration has been decieving us once again on the size of the surge. The administration has been talking to us about 21,500 combat troops involved in the surge. The CBO has said this will also require additional support troops for the combat troops so the total number of troops to be surged into Iraq is 35,000 to 48,000. Further the CBO says Bush is saying this will cost an additional 3 billion when they estimate 4 to 7 billion.
