Damn
It’s been a long day, and I was finally running out of steam and ready to call it a night. Then I clicked on one last link, and read the latest from Baghdad Burning:

It’s been a long day, and I was finally running out of steam and ready to call it a night. Then I clicked on one last link, and read the latest from Baghdad Burning:
…Let me clear it up for any moron with lingering doubts: It’s worse. It’s over. You lost. You lost the day your tanks rolled into Baghdad to the cheers of your imported, American-trained monkeys. You lost every single family whose home your soldiers violated. You lost every sane, red-blooded Iraqi when the Abu Ghraib pictures came out and verified your atrocities behind prison walls as well as the ones we see in our streets. You lost when you brought murderers, looters, gangsters and militia heads to power and hailed them as Iraq’s first democratic government. You lost when a gruesome execution was dubbed your biggest accomplishment. You lost the respect and reputation you once had. You lost more than 3000 troops. That is what you lost America. I hope the oil, at least, made it worthwhile.
The above paragraph is the easy part of Riverbend’s posting. I’m not quite sure how I’ll sleep tonight after reading the rest of it.
What is congress still debating?

America lost when Al Gore conceded. It was obvious back then that the Bush team had no scruples, that they were there to seize power and use it for their own ends. It was obvious in summer 2001, when “Ken Lay” became “that man.” It was obvious back in the spring of 2002, when Bushco refused to investigate 911. It was obvious in summer of 2002, when the first reports of fabrication of the connection of Iraq to WMD and terrorism surfaced.
If this country learns a lesson, it should be that we cannot ever afford to let unaccountable power take hold. Anyone who says, “It doesn’t matter who is elected” deserves to be told that s/he is not carrying his/her weight as an American.
we haven’t lost until every iraqi is dead. then we’ve won - see how that works?
