That Washington Post headline captures this Administration. He told a dumb lie. Lying, of course, is immoral. A dumb lie is a sign of incompetence. Patrick Fitzgerald captures the entire Bush Administration there in his closing, then. They are all incompetent and immoral. We on the progressive side of the blogzome have known that a long time.
The wonder here is why all of America isn’t disgusted.

I wrote about this today but didn’t catch the funny slant you did with the headline…
No shit! What about that Sandy Burger guy, too?
“Lying, of course, is immoral. A dumb lie is a sign of incompetence. … They are all incompetent and immoral. We on the progressive side of the blogzome have known that a long time.”
I am kind of interested in hearing who you propose to take their place then, because those are some pretty strict standards you have drawn.
So two commenters come up with the fallacious argument of “they all do it.” This story is about the Republicans. They have failed morally and lack competence in virtually every single area they have attempted to tackle. Who could do better? A trained monkey has more morals. Maybe more competence, too. As to whether the Democrats could do better, let’s look to the balanced budgets of the Clinton Administration, and the welfare reforms, just for starters.
“As to whether the Democrats could do better, let’s look to the balanced budgets of the Clinton Administration, and the welfare reforms, just for starters.”
Ha ha ha ha ha, that’s funny. No wait, you’re serious! HA HA HA HA HA HA!
Wait. Are you saying Burger was employed by the Clinton administration, but that they were competent? Time to elect some trained monkeys.
“Lying, of course, is immoral. A dumb lie is a sign of incompetence. Patrick Fitzgerald captures the entire Bush Administration there in his closing, then. They are all incompetent and immoral.”
Read your own words again, you first suggested “they all do it” based on one man being accused, not yet even convicted. My question is, if a “dumb lie” is proof positive of an unacceptable level of incompetence and immorality, then who are you going to nominate to run the government? You set the bar, dude, I just want to know who among us has never told a dumb lie.
Or maybe the standards are different for Democrats? That would certainly explain the whole Culture of Corruption nonsense.
Yo, Moe. Note that in the discovery of Libby’s lie that we found out several people who leaked the name of a CIA agent for political gain. Rove and Armitage are among them. That makes at least two more immoral Republicans. If you read this blog, or even watch FauxNews, you can see evidence of dozens and dozens more immoral and incompetent Republicans. Abramoff, Guckert, DeLay, Cheney, Bush, . . . the list goes on and on. Colin Powell is ashamed to be seen with any of them. Perhaps he’s the only Republican left in this country with a sense of shame. An endangered species, Powell is, and I’d be all for keeping him.
