Novak notes in his column today that a push poll in Iowa moved a former Virginia Governor ahead of Giuliani and McCain in the Republican primary. He says it is because James Gilmore is a true conservative.

BULLSHIT!

There are few true conservatives left. Those folks would demand that the government stay out of the personal lives of Americans on the issues of abortion, gay rights, government surveillance, etc. There’s not a single candidate, nor even a single Republican, who would advocate such a thing.

Bob Novak is simply an idiot who, though he poses as a man who wishes to represent true conservatism, can’t even remember what the principles of true conservatism are.

As I’ve said many times here, I could support a true conservative who supports civil liberties in the sense of the government staying out of our lives, who supports sane and rational foreign policies. There ain’t no such animal out there running for office. The candidates are all too beholden to the religious right and the lobbyists to remotely support conservative issues.
