I’ll be out most of the day. I’ve got to get a haircut, work out, then have a bit of date night with my wife. But that doesn’t mean I’m not keeping up with the news.

So, which talking head do the words “hate” and “ignorance” describe today? According to Philadelphia Inquirer sports columnist Phil Sheridan, the dubious distinction goes to Don Imus for his stupid remarks earlier this week. I particularly love the creepy picture of Imus they included with the article. Imus apologized later, with extreme poor form. Yeah, MSNBC should fire him. The FanToo girls told me to say that.

On a side note, remember when everyone jumped on Joe Biden about his use of the word “articulate” to describe Barack Obama? My wife points out to me that Vivian Stringer used the word “articulate” to describe the women on her team in her official statement about the Imus bullshit. That’s OK by me. I thought the criticism of Biden’s words were a bit overboard anyway.

Bush is consistent to one degree. He criticizes Pelosi about going to meet Assad in Syria. He actually barred Jimmy Carter from doing so, according to Harpers. Some leaders might use Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Prize winner and respected around the globe. Bush, though, just disdains a man who actually did get things done on the peace front in that region. The consistency? Squandering resources.

Monica Goodling has resigned. I’m thinking we have to get her on the stand and make her recite those words of the fifth amendment about a hundred times. Each time she does so the Senator questioning her should ask her about the types of self-incrimination she is protecting herself from, given there have been no charges against anyone in this case. Supposedly she is protecting herself from a show trial atmospehere, but that would look far, far worse. John Dowd, her lawyer, has done Monica Goodling a disservice as regards how she will be respected the rest of her life, that is unless she actually did break the law somehow.

Republican moderates? Aren’t there like three of them in the entire country? They spent the first six years of the Bush Administration rubber stamping with every vote, and now the one or two moderates who might be out there wake up and show a bit of backbone? I’m sorry. I’m not going to celebrate them, as the New York Times seems to.
