Well, well - looks like noted CIA operative outer and convicted liar I. “Scooter” Libby is going to be heading for the big house. U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton has denied Team Libby’s request to stay his jail sentence pending appeal. According to FDL, Libby will have six to eight weeks to report to prison (normal routine for non-flight risk, federally convicted criminals).
There’s little doubt that Scooter’s legal team will be attempting other maneuvers to keep him out of Bubba’s reach, and my guess is that he’ll still avoid doing any jail time. I’m sure that Libby’s fellow federal inmate Jack Abramoff will be a bit miffed at these developments.
And, just in case that the Bureau of Prisons van does come to his house to pick him up in the near future, is there any question that George Bush will give Scooter one of these to whip out of his wallet?

Update: From the comments of a snarkalicious post at Digby’s Hullabaloo:
Maybe Libby will commit suicide in an act of asymmetric warfare against the Liberal Judiciary® .
Indeed. And, as the right wing howler monkeys fling poo and screech for justice for Scooter, let’s remember: Judge Reggie Walton is a Team Bush inside player. He was the judge who, not once but twice, refused to allow 9/11 whistleblower Sibel Edmonds to bring suit against the Bush regime in her case for personal vindication. Walton is no “liberal activist judge”.
