The FBI is investigating Bill White, head of the White Supremacy organization overthrow.org for harrassment of Miami Herald columnist Leonard Pitts. Lots of interesting stuff here, too. Bill White has Pitts’ home address on his web site, there are several links between Bill White and the Washington Times (the Washington Times has scrubbed its web site of those columns written by White), and White admits that if someone were to kill Leonard Pitts, he wouldn’t be bothered.
“Frankly, if some loony took the info and killed him, I wouldn’t shed a tear,” White told a reporter. “That also goes for your whole newsroom.”
So what’s the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division going to do? Bush has denuded and politicized the Civil Rights Division (more stories on this subject here and here and here), and Bill White is connected to the most powerful right wing newspaper in the land. Has Bush and the Republicans politicized the Justice Department enough to protect even right wing fringe domestic terrorists like Bill White? I’m guessing they have and that almost nothing will come of this investigation. The Miami Herald ought to be investing in bodyguards for Pitts and his family. Especially with quotes like this out there:
Reached in Roanoke, Va., where the website is based, White said he is 30 years old and is the ”commander” of the American National Socialist Workers Party, which aspires to build a nation ”modeled on the German Third Reich.” He said the group has 280 contributors.
Told that the FBI is investigating the threats, White said: “I haven’t encouraged anybody to do it, but it doesn’t bother me one bit. . . . Law enforcement doesn’t care. We have a controversy like this about every two or three months. They don’t waste their time contacting me anymore.”
It should go without saying that there are no comments yet from our top law enforcement officer Alberto Gonzales, nor any action from the Department of Homeland Security.
Just as example of the kind of idiots we’re dealing with here, on the forums of overthrow.com at present, the number one topic being discussed is titled “Whites Have Bigger Cocks Than Blacks.” I kid you not, these guys had their development arrested at 13 years old or something. Man, among normal people that topic just doesn’t come up, anytime, anywhere.
All I can say is that I’m neither a Republican nor a right winger. Trying to maintain that fantasy is more than a little silly — though necessary from your rather limited and immature point of view. ;-D

What’s especially ironic about this is that if you read Pitts’s columns, he bends over backwards to be fair to his white readers, even the nutty ones. He’s not the least bit dismissive of their viewpoints or concerns, unlike, say, the late Steve Gilliard, who did not suffer fools gladly. Pitts always maintains a calm, reasonable tone, which—who knows?—may just serve to infuriate these lunatics even more.

Brendan, leave it to you to pick up on Bill White and his readers’ obsession with sex organ size. Sure, virulent racism and anti-semitism is a pretty bad symptom of their complete lack of morals, but the obsession about the size ofg their penises shows a stunted moral growth. I’m going to say it right here. I am not surprised that the Washington Times has scrubbed Bill White’s hate speech from their site. The Washington Times may be despicable in many ways, but they know that they could get crucified for being associated with the rat dung that is Bill White.
