Ah, I’m beginning to like Friday the 13th. First we had David Vitter a couple days ago, who was caught on the list of that DC madam. He resigned. Then there was Bob Allen, who evidently solicited a man in a restroom, evidently offering $20 so he could perform oral sex on the undercover cop. Now we’ve got the case of North Carolina State Rep. David Almond, Jr., who resigned his position just yesterday. The official stories are that there has been a personnel complaint brought against him, perhaps by his 63 year old legislative assistant. From WRAL in Raleigh:

Rep. David Almond Jr., R-Stanly, submitted his resignation to the House Republican Caucus Thursday morning after someone leveled misconduct claims against him.

“I intend to defend myself against these charges in whatever forum may be appropriate,” Almond said in a letter to caucus members. “In the meantime, I have concluded it’s in the best interests of my family and my constituents to resign from the General Assembly.”

The nature of the allegations against Almond, an insurance agent and two-term representative from Stanfield, hasn’t been disclosed. However, the lawmaker’s legislative assistant suddenly cleaned out her desk last week and left his office, officials said.

The 63-year-old woman was reassigned Monday as a “floater,” meaning she is no longer assigned to a specific office.

So, are they sex charges? I suppose the truth will come out in the next few days, but there’s some big rumors going on over at Down With Tyranny, and reprinted on Alternet. The rumor?

Impeccable DWT sources tell me he exposed himself in front of a female employee and chased her around the room yelling “Suck it, baby, suck it.” It is unclear whether or not there was physical contact. She filed a personnel complaint.
