There’s Mr. Coy C. Privette, former Republican State Legislator and current head of North Carolina’s ultraconservative Christian Action League (web site appears to be offline — Pensito Review has some information from that source). That’s him on the left. The recipient of his . . . umm. . . “largesse”. . . is there on the right, and she was also arrested in the case. He was arrested for aiding and abetting prostitution, while Tiffany here was arrested for six counts of prostitution. (SIX COUNTS! The guy’s 74 years old! What kind of drugs is he on, and why didn’t they do a toxicology test or something! SIX COUNTS!) I suppose this is a big story in Kannapolis, NC. Since Mr. Privette tries to influence politics in this country as a leader of a conservative Christian group that supports Republican causes, it should be a big story everywhere.

But this is not just a story of the latest Republican caught applying his largesse in places where he shouldn’t. Nope, we haven’t seen the alcoholism defense or the childhood abuse defense yet, and Republicans caught in such circumstances are favorites to whine with lots of excuses. Mr. Privette hasn’t even whined about how he was ministering to the sinful, such as Tiffany Summers. No, Mr. Privette falsely reported a crime, in addition to aiding and abetting Tiffany Summers in her role as Prostitute to the Republican Clerics (this should be the basis for an annual awards show or something. Or a reality show? Who is the best Prostitute to the Republican Clerics? Imagine the voting from people through text messages!) From WSOCTV:

Privette, 74, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor aiding and abetting prostitution by renting a hotel room and paying for sexual acts, according to State Bureau of Investigation Agent Kevin Canty. Tiffany Denise Summers, 32, of Salisbury, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor prostitution, Canty said.

Privette was arrested at his Kannapolis home at about 7:40 a.m. Thursday by agents with the State Bureau of Investigation, said Department of Justice spokeswoman Noelle Talley.

Police said officers were investigating a forged check case, which led them to the prostitution charges. Privette on two occasions allegedly paid the prostitute with checks then reported those checks as stolen, officials said.

The Kannapolis Police Department and the SBI continue to investigate the case.

Check out that last part. Privette paid Tiffany Summers with a personal check, which in itself shows the man to be either stupid or so horny he couldn’t wait to find an ATM. Then, after bestowing his largesse on Tiffany Summers, Mr. Privette hurried over to report the personal check as stolen. It seems to me that that’s reporting a crime falsely, and that just might be what the State Bureau of Investigation is still looking into. But beyond the crime part, that’s just wrong. Privette paid for a service, he got his service, then he reported his check as stolen, knowing he was going to get Tiffany in trouble and that she wouldn’t be able to cash the check. Through subterfuge Mr. Privette cheated Tiffany Summers out of payment for a service rendered. In exchange for a sex act of undetermined nature, Ms. Tiffany Summers got a con job in return.

Oh, this is a lot more than just the latest Republican sex scandal. Indeed.
