Larry Craig to Retract His Guilty Plea AND His Resignation
Larry Craig isn’t just challenging the guilty plea he made in Minneapolis, but also the resignation he made this Saturday. This guy must REALLY love power, considering the amount of lawyering up he’s been doing. Man, that’s big bucks he’s spending on lawyers!
All along Mr. Craig has said he is going to try to retract his guilty plea in the bathroom sex case from Minneapolis. He’s hired a fancy, schmancy legal team to help him out there, as I mentioned in an earlier post. He’s got the lawyer that defended Michael Vick, and also a few other top lawyers, who likely cost an arm and a couple legs. (Perhaps Mr. Craig can find one of those legs in a bathroom stall while using his wide stance?) What’s interesting, besides Mr. Craig trying to go back on what he admitted to before, is that he is also thinking of going back on what he announced just this Saturday, his decision to resign. Yes, it is possible Larry Craig is thinking about flip-flopping about his resignation decision. From the AP wire:
Sen. Larry Craig is reconsidering his decision to resign after his arrest in a Minnesota airport sex sting and may still fight for his Senate seat, his spokesman said Tuesday evening.
“It’s not such a foregone conclusion anymore, that the only thing he could do was resign,” said Sidney Smith, Craig’s spokesman in Idaho’s capital.
“We’re still preparing as if Senator Craig will resign Sept. 30, but the outcome of the legal case in Minnesota and the ethics investigation will have an impact on whether we’re able to stay in the fight—and stay in the Senate.”
This guy is flip flopping so much, next thing you know he’s going to join the Republican nominees for President. He’ll certainly be at home in that company of flip floppers. Not that he’s abused dogs, like Romney, or married a cousin, like Guiliani. He’ll just feel at home on the flip flopping thing. . .
Update, 11:34: By the way, I want to give a big shout out to Mike Rogers at BlogActive. Man, I loved meeting him about 18 months ago, and I love his work exposing those who don’t wish to be exposed. Mike led this story before anyone, by several months, as seen here in the WaPo. I also want to give a shout out to . . . drum roll please. . . Michelle Malkin, who decided to slam Arlen Specter for defending Larry Craig. The problem there, though, is that Michelle’s best friends are probably in the Union Station restroom trying to hook up with guys with “wide stances.” She’s not going to gain from this at all, in other words.
