John David Roy Atchison, Republican Sex Offender, Taken Off Suicide Watch
No more suicide watch for John David Roy Atchison. not only that, but his boss, appointed by President Bush, has released a statement saying not one word about the crime Mr. Atchison has been charged with. This is a guy who loves to crow about his office’s prosecution of sex crimes.
Just an update here. Let me put on my sarcasm hat.
Good news for John David Roy Atchison? His boss, Bush appointee Gregory Miller, made a statement that ignores completely what Mr. Atchison has been charged with.
The employees of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida are deeply saddened by the arrest of federal civil attorney J.D. Roy Atchison.
Investigations and prosecutions of this nature are both sensitive and difficult. Our office is fully cooperating with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan (Detroit), the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Macomb County (Michigan) as they continue their work on this case.
We have confidence in the integrity of the work these law enforcers and prosecutors are doing, and believe that in the end, justice will be served.
We are, of course, concerned about the welfare of Mr. Atchison’s family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
The men and women of the United States Attorney’s Office are true professionals – in every sense of the word. The public can be assured they are doing the work of the nation’s law firm with excellence, dedicated to ably serving the people of this District.
I suppose, technically, Miller, the US Attorney, should not interfere with the Michigan authorities as they prosecute Atchison for trying to entice a five year old and then rape her, but Miller has crowed about his own efforts against both child porn and internet seductions of minors (press releases about Miller’s prosecutions of sex criminals here and here. No crowing now, so Atchison dodged a bullet? Well, not really, I guess. He’s still facing up to 60 years, after all.
More good news for John David Roy Atchison? His MySpace page has not been taken down yet, and clowns are flocking to make “friends” with him. Is this really Atchison’s MySpace page? Well, the age is off a bit, so it seems maybe it’s a send-up. Still, it was last modified before this case exploded in Detroit. Whether it is really Atchison’s, it certainly is a bit sick.
Final good news? No more suicide watch. Yeah, John David Roy Atchison now gets his shoelaces back. Small comforts are important, aren’t they?

On Saturday, I e-mailed the link to this story to; Democracy Now, Randi Rhodes, Stephanie Miller,Truthdig, and Truthout. Marc Ash of Truthout did return my message stating that he would run it by the other editors, but so far I’ve not heard or seen anything mentioned about this story from anyone.
Let’s get real. The squashing of this story by mainstream media is but a tip of the iceberg.Reports on this kind of predatory and malicious behavior in any media are few and far between. Why might that be? Because this type of behavior is directly tied into our “traditional values”. Domestic assault of ones children or spouse was legal behavior in America until very recent times.Restraining orders for spousal abuse didn’t exist until after the 1970’s. Incest is not an isolated incident. Assault and rape of children in America by their own family member is alarmingly common. The majority of battered women today are adults molested as children by guess who…usually another family member. Hypocrisy, self righteous pretension and duplicity is what needs to be addressed in America, starting from the TOP.
No, reports of this kind of behavior permeate the airwaves. It is not an accident that “To Catch a Predator” gets huge ratings. Now, that program is prone to excess, but to claim that the media ignors sex crimes against children is a bit much.

Real information on predators would include their generational backround, and how more often than not this is “learned” behavior from childhood. A never ending cycle. The fact that reporting on John Atchison is next to non-existent underlines my point. Americans need to be clued in to the prevalance of this behavior and address it directly. Not one of you could possibly known what was going through his head that night as he drove past my house to Pensacola Airport. I will bet my life that he wished with all his might that he could stop himself, just turn around to his family and say his boss canceled the business meeting. However he couldnt, why because he was sick. I am not saying that what he did was ok, the concept alone is repulsive, however, he was ill. Pedofilia is a disease just like depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar (manic depressive). It is listed in the DSM IV (the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual or Mental Disorders) which is how psychologists diagnose patients. In the same way that a depressed person cannot just make themselves better, pedofiles cannot cease interest in their attraction, and in the case of mr. atchison are carried to act upon it.
In addition, to all of you griping about the Rep. party, youre idiots. Im just as liberal as anybody, but to suggest that pedofilia comes with the party is idiotic. Democrats are just as fallable as republicans. Were all human.
