Jerry Weller Makes the Most Corrupt List
Jerry Weller gets the honors as one of the most corrupt. He also got a subpoena, and it is being reported he will not be standing for reelection next year, following his good friend Dennis Hastert into retirement.
CREW has its Most Corrupt Members of Congress list out. 18 Republicans and 4 Democrats are on it. Let me be the first to say that I hope the four Democrats on the list all are defeated. Of course, it goes without saying that I hope those 18 Republicans are all defeated. It appears that Jerry Weller, though, will not be among the defeated Republicans. The Republican Congressman from Illinois, who was served with a subpoena in the Wilkes bribery case, is evidently retiring. No, he didn’t say so just the other day in this report, but TPM Election Central (Rollcall has the retirement announcement as early as today) says Jerry Weller will be announcing his retirement from Congress any day now.
