Chris Matthews hits one out of the park.
I’m not a huge fan of Chris Matthews. In fact, I think Chris Matthews (in general) is a pox on the political landscape in America.
Never the less, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Watch this segment from yesterday evening’s “Hardball”. I’m not even going to set it up for you. It’s best viewed with absolutely no brain clutter. Fair warning: empty your mouth of any solids or liquids prior to viewing.

richard, you’re absolutely right. neville was fucked. he had no real choices. way before my time, but i’m glad i wasn’t in his place. well, could have attacked germany ‘preemptively’, i guess, except they had no rifles, lol. and bareley enough planes to defend england. i still feel bad for russia, stalin was a ruthless motherfucker.
but try explainin that to a russian, lol. to them, he saved russia. and he did.
Bush’s people say his appeasement language wasn’t directed at Barack Obama. I’m thinking it must be directed at someone else who is “negotiating with terrorists and radicals.” Could it be he was commenting about these guys?

Takes a lot of Chutzpah to take on the Israelis while giving a speech there, in my view. That means this is the usual incompetence of the Bush Administration, so it isn’t surprising.
That was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen - and from Tweety, no less. Maybe he really IS running for senator…
I would love to watch the video, but it is a waste of time for me without a summary. You see, I’m hearing impaired and the speaker on my laptop is not loud enough to hear.
I wish blog posters would realize that some of their audience is excluded when they don’t include a transcript or summary.
If I had a transcript or summary to work with, then I could watch the video for body language. Being able to read body language is an important skill developed by the hearing impaired. We just need some words describing what we are watching for it to have a greater impact.
I appreciate that, HK - and I will get a transcript up - but MS-NBC typically doesn’t put transcripts on their website until later the following day. Basically, Matthews is ripping into a 2nd tier right wing radio host for comparing Obama to Neville Chamberlain and Nazi Germany in the late 1930’s. And Matthews asks him repeatedly what Chamberlain did (or said). And the winger talk show host has absolutely no idea, other than using the word “appeaser” is cool in right wing circles. It’s really a great video.

Somewhat off topic, but in relation to the mention of Stalin –
There’s a book called “Icebreaker” which apparently has been a runaway best seller for years in Eastern Europe and Russia that claims that Stalin was planning to invade Europe and take down Hitler two weeks before Hitler invaded with Operation Barbarrosa (? - if that’s the name of it). It’s out of print on Amazon and used copies are going for a small fortune.
According to my Russian client everyone in Russia has read it or knows about it.
