McCain = Bush = Get a Ticket & Court Date
Carol Kreck, a 61 year old librarian, wanted to see John McCain at a “town hall” meeting in Denver today. McCain’s campaign staff didn’t like the sign she was carrying, though. So they had her cited for trespassing, and now she has a date with the judge. Oh, and she didn’t get to see McBush.
This is almost unbelievable. We’re all quite used to George Bush’s cloistered public appearances, which have, in recent years, been mostly limited to military bases. When he’s actually at a public function, it’s all GOP sycophants & supporters. On the campaign trail in 2004, his public appearances were accompanied by the need for signing “GOP loyalty oaths”, although a few dissenters managed to sneak in under the radar.
It looks like John McCain is taking the same approach - only on public property. A 61 year old librarian was cited in Denver today for carrying a sign into a McCain town hall discussion that said merely “McCain = Bush”. After McCain’s campaign team complained to the Secret Service, she was apparently asked to leave. When she refused, the Denver police cited her for trespassing, and issued her a court summons. Keep in mind, this “town hall” was being held in a public forum, owned by the City of Denver.
As Carol Kreck said: “All I did was carry a sign that said McCain = Bush, and for everyone who voted for Bush, I don’t see why it’s offensive to say McCain = Bush.” Apparently, it’s offensive to McCain, who has done everything possible to avoid being associated with George W. Bush.
Maybe so, but it would seem as if McCain’s campaign staff has recently leased George Bush’s bubble from its owner, Dick Cheney.
We she trespassing in a private function? I believe so. She was asked nicely to leave and refused. So the cops where called to enforce the law. She was not welcome in a private function that was organized and paid for by McCain.
Just like the people at Obamas rallys because there are too many black people there. LOL.
It seems that McCain is proving once again that McCain=Bush. He verified it by having the woman removed. He is just a senile old bastard who isn’t capable of running his own mouth let alone the government. The media should start to point out how corrupt he really is, how “forgetful” he is getting and how dangerous his temper is. And that is just the start. After that they can start to report how many sides he is on for each issue. It will make voters dizzy.
JOkerr, by definition a “town hall (meeting)” is a public, not a private function. The cops were called not to enforce the law but because a McCain security detail member “said so.” [Replay the video.] What, McCain is crying “I’m being victimized?” No. Like Bush, he ignores the First Amendment and abuses the term “town hall,” which both redefine as a misnomer. To quote the real victim, “Why would Republicans, who voted for Bush, find it offensive that a sign says Bush=McCain or McCain=Bush? BTW, “Obamas rallys” (sic) are open to all, supporters & dissenters alike. Which is why 80,000 people showed up to hear him speak on issues at a Portland, OR riverside park … a public function, on public property.
Why didn’t the local cops just tell the overzealous Secret Service to go Cheney themselves and then they could have left this woman to practice her civil liberties? Oh yeah, I forgot, we have no civil liberties? Karl Rove took them all so he could thumb his nose at Congress.
I feel sorry for the lady, but the proper thing to do was to go back and promptly be arrested. And to make sure that there were more than one person filming video of this event, and ready to go to the local media with this. This is the only way to get some attention.
Well, her sign wasn’t actually accurate, was it?
