FISA: The Mourning After, Part 2
In a multi-part series examining the FISA legislation passed on 7/9/08, the statements of Senators Kit Bond (R-Mo), Arlen Specter (R-Pa), and Russ Feingold (D-Wi) are reviewed and deconstructed. Second up: Arlen Specter…
The following is the second in a short series articles on the FISA bill approval on 7/9/08.

“There’s an old expression: buying a pig in a poke. It means buying something that you don’t know what it is you’re buying. Well, that’s what the Senate is being asked to do here today — to grant retroactive immunity to a program where the members don’t know what the program is.“
I just don’t get Arlen Specter. Even though he’s a Republican, and he makes all the right noises at times on egregious affronts to constitutionally protected liberties, in the end it rarely matters. Why? …
Because when the rubber meets the road, and the roll is called, Specter goes ahead and votes totally against his own statements. Even though he had clear reservations about the FISA bill, he voted in lockstep with every other GOP senator to pass the legislation.
What’s worse is that Sen. Specter knows damn well that his statement is, at best, a half-truth. Some members of the Senate do know what the program is - and they tried to warn us.
In the next part of this series, we’ll check in with one of those Senators.

That’s because despite his mild demeanor Specter is and always will be a tool and he, just like all those Democrats that voted AYE sold us and our civil rights right out the window.

This year alone he’s taken $9,000 ( on the books ) from Telephone Utilities and Telecom Services companies. Apparently buying a Senator isn’t that dificult for AT&T, Verizon and so on.
yeah, specter has this weird belief that what he says matters more than what he does.
frankly, Im glad the cancer came back and I hope it kills him before the end of the year.
