Musharref Resignation: Bush’s GWOT Just Got More Interesting
The world that the next president of the United States inherits is going to look very different than the current model. Global geopolitics are changing fast - Russia / Georgia, and now Pakistan’s Pervez Musharref resigns. Instability within the membership of the global nuclear club isn’t a good thing.
I’m going to go out on a limb and make a prediction:
Before the next president takes office on 1/20/2009, the world is going to be a much different place. It’s almost starting to seem like the Bush regime is going out of their way to scorch them some earth, and leave a huge pile of crap for the next administration to sort through.
First, we have Russia and Georgia, a situation which isn’t going away anytime soon. The instability in the region will remain, and all parties will be nervously fingering a cocked trigger. But at least Condi Rice finally decided to leave the Feragamo store, quit vacation early, and head for the region. Bush himself delayed his two week vacay a day or two to “monitor developments”, but he’s now busy with brush clearing in Crawford.
Today comes word that BushCo / Cheney LLC’s lapdog, Pervez Musharref, has ended months of speculation and is resigning as president of Pakistan. There’s not much that I can add to this piece of news, other than what this means is even more instability in an already unstable member of the global nuclear club.
Georgia has nukes and ground forces. Russia has nukes and ground forces. The U.S. has nukes and essentially no uncommitted ground forces. Pakistan has nukes and ground forces, and a military which is not (apparently) answerable to the country’s civilian leadership.
The world that the next POTUS inherits just five short months from now will be very different than that which the Bush regime has operated with relative impunity. I’m not smart enough to know what that world might look like, but unfortunately, I am tuned into what’s happening just enough to be very concerned.
Sometimes, ignorance is indeed bliss.
Richard, how many times must I tell you…the “election” will be canceled by Executive order. Cheney isn’t leaving.
The economy will be collapsed next month and then you will see for what purpose all the concentration camps built with taxpayer money will serve.

The sham of democratic process in this country continues, despite obvious and, due to cronyism and the best judges money can buy, largely successful efforts to keep the people who are most affected by the criminal policies of the wealthy, namely, tha VAST majority of the 360 million people who are comprising the American population, from having a vote at all, or from having their vote accurately recorded, counted and handled.
The wholesale disenfranchisement of the average American; the persistent beshitting of the Constitution with the happy compliance of the tools in congress in both parties; the reduction of a once proud and righteously so media, to a pitiful collection of marketing and propaganda shills, the outsourcing and destruction of the US manufacturing base; the barbaric practice of torture and tortured efforts to justify it; the imprisonment of over 1/3 the population of single black males, not to mention the endless black hole that is our “War on Drugs,” fueled primarily by drugs smuggled into the country by the CIA; the destruction and despoilation of everything good that America once stood for; the wholesale warrantless spying on Americans; the elimination of habeus corpus; the wholesale jettisoning of the rule of law; the treatment of law abiding citizens as criminals; the inculcation of a police class of thugs and brutes; the replacement of once responsible public servants with simpering cronies and criminals, all signal that our beloved Republic is indeed D E A D.
The “election” if held at all, which is highly doubtful, will produce a predictable result of another banking/insurance/oil/military industrial industry tool in power; the continued blackmail of almost every member of congress who isn’t cooperating with the New World Order voluntarily out of sheer greed and absolutely nothing will change, except that the average American will be shoved deeper into serfdom.
The return of feudal times to the world is nigh. Sadly, the America we once knew and loved is gone. Get out while you can, before it’s too late, though there are fewer and fewer places to go.
