Comeback of the Week: Jesus was a Community Organizer
Sarah Palin derided Barack Obama for being a Community Organizer, evidently forgetting that from childhood she had been taught about the virtures of Jesus being a community organizer. She also forgot that Ponius Pilate was a Governor.
As it is posted by Markos, the rest of the line is “Pontius Pilate was a Governor.”
I do not compare Barack Obama to Jesus, but if Sarah Palin wants to defame community organizers, who organize people in effort to help the poor, the hungry and the homeless, then she should think about what every Christian is taught when growing up, that Jesus himself did these things. I also do not wish to compare Palin to Pilate, but she did cut programs for special needs children and unwed mothers.
Comments like these demonstrate why liberals and Democrats have a hard time appealing to Christians.
then I guess I shouldn’t point out that Michelle Malkin referred to Obama’s community activism as him being a rabble-rouser (something I’m pretty sure Jesus and the apostles were considered as being back in the day).
Matt, are you saying Jesus wasn’t a community activist?
Steven, you’d make his head explode it you took it a bit farther and explained that Jesus’ advocating for a more equitable distribution of wealth/services to the masses, and his feeding and teaching of the poor were actually endeavors to reform the social structures of his time. So in a very BIG way Jesus’ movement was more about socialism than it was about religion.
Steven, it’s not just that that Jesus was a community activist. It could be argued that Jesus’ feeding of the poor and advocating for redistribution of wealth / services (fair pay), and education (give a man a fish; you feed him for a day, teach him to fish….) was more a social reform movement than anything else.
Republicans/Christians: Do as I say, not as I do.
