Keith Olbermann Special Comment On Sarah Palin - 10/06/08
In tonight’s Special Comment, Keith Olbermann responds to Sarah Palin’s attacks on Barack Obama.
Keith Olbermann wasted no time in responding to Sarah Palin’s latest stump schtick. According to Palin, she’s decided that it’s “time to put on the heels and take off the gloves” in her efforts to sully Barack Obama. In tonight’s Special Comment, Olbermann takes the governor up on one of her suggestion and pulls no punches…and the results may not be what Palin had in mind.
As Olbermann notes, it’s rather puzzling that Palin would choose to focus upon linking Barack Obama to individuals of questionable character…or as she likes to infer…”terrorists”, given her own brow raising associations with a witch doctor and a secessionist organization run by an anti-American radical.
It seems to me that people who wear rose colored lipstick and run around in glass stilettos should think before they kick every hockey puck in the arena. After all, she wouldn’t want someone to suggest that her rhetoric is little more than a pig in a poke.

Dear Citizen:
Are you ready yet for the November 4th Elections? How about your friends, family, and neighbors?
More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?
The answers to these questions — and all your voting needs — can be found at http://www.StateDemocracy.org — the FREE 1-Stop citizen empowerment portal that Delivers Democracy to your Desktop! StateDemocracy is among the Internet’s first (since 2001) and most encompassing civic empowerment tools.

Lobby Congress Via StateDemocracy
StateDemocracy.org also equips you to maintain an active dialog with your state and federal lawmakers once they are elected. And RIGHT NOW is an especially opportune time to contact your U.S. Senators and House Member, as Congress takes up major legislation on such issues as offshore oil drilling, another economic stimulus package and all federal appropriations bills over the next few weeks.
As you lobby your elected officials, remember that lawmakers view your constituent input as reflective of scores of other citizens who felt similarly, but didn’t have (or take) the time to share their opinions.

You know, I love Keith but I think he went a little overboard last night. Denouncing the Obama smears is one thing. Calling attention to the skeletons in both McCain and Palin’s closets is one thing.
But he outright called Todd Palin a terrorist because he was part of an Alaskan Secessionist organization. I don’t agree with that.
The standard definition of a terrorist is someone who uses fear, intimidation and violence as a way of forcing undesirable political change on a populace - hell 90% of the current Republican party fits that description. But the current -popular- definition, the one that most Americans are going to use to define what a terrorist is isn’t the same. It’s going to be more like: “Somebody who blows shit up.” so unless Todd or that dude who said he had No use for the United States have actively killed people or blown things up they’re not going to qualify. I’m worried here that Keith is taking a legitimate concern and adding questionable hyperbole to it. Those center-left already have problems convincing people our concerns are legitimate without having to play that loose with the facts. I agree that the fact that the First Dude belonged to this organization and Sarah Palin was shooting videos for them should be brought up. But the terrorist accusation is a bit much.
Besides, If just being a secessionist is the same as being a terrorist then we have to take a large portion of the state of Vermont - who has been debating seceding over Bush’s power grasping and lump them into the same category as these wackos from Alaska and I’m just not comfortable with that.
Remains of Alaska Separatist Are Identified
This is really something Keith should have mentioned. That the guy died when a deal for plastic explosives went bad. But I don’t recall him citing that as a reason for why this guy could be considered a terrorist. So it just liked a hyperbole.
