Sarah Palin Can See Afghanistan From her Home, and Other Outrages
Sarah Palin is campaigning on her own now, and the follies begin with geographic mistakes, pit bull inaccuracies and slime, and attacks on freedom of the press. Heather Wilson, (R-NM) joined in on attacking both Barack Obama and freedom of speech yesterday, in effect claiming we have 200 million unpatriotic citizens in America.
Today’s outrages are brought to you by the Republican Party, bringing you the freshest outrages since since their founding in. . . well, they’re not really sure on their founding, and if you press them on it, then you’re un-American.
First, Sarah Palin is getting crowded at home in Wasilla Alaska. Famously, she has in the past claimed to be able to see several hundred miles to Russia from her home in Wasilla. Yesterday she claimed Afghanistan is a neighbor to the USA. I suspect this was a legitimate slipup while Sarah was going at the task of constructing a sentence. Hard work for her, though. Wear your hard hats!
In other news, GOP Representative called Barack Obama unpatriotic in an interview yesterday. The video of Heather Wilson the fool is right here. Her evidence? Well, she says it is unpatriotic to criticize George Bush. Given the popularity of Mr. bush, that means we have well over 200 million unpatriotic Americans in this country, by the criteria of Heather Wilson. Of course, her standard threatens the notion of free speech, so I’m thinking she should be added to this list of unpatriotic Americans.
Abraxas over on DailyKos has a nice view of our freedoms as well, and when abraxas looks at Sarah Palin he doesn’t like what he sees. Does she disdain the Press so much that she disdains the notion of Freedom of the Press? I’d have to look at every case, but this is probably what bugs me so much about the Republicans whining about the press. In our country, it is sacred that the press have the freedom to express whatever it chooses. It is chilling to me on a gut level when McCain and his people whine about the New York Times, just as it is chilling in my gut when Sarah Palin whines about Katie Couric, a member of the press not known for frightening her interview subjects.
Finally, Sarah Palin repeated time after time yesterday the canard that Barack Obama associates with terrorists. She even defended the notion. The Obama campaign is right that the Palin/McCain folks would rather tear down than build up. Here’s Palin from msn news:
The Republican vice presidential nominee said it was legitimate to raise Obama’s association with 1960s radical Bill Ayers.
She said: “The comments are about an association that has been known but hasn’t been talked about. It’s important to talk about how Barack Obama kicked off his political career in the guy’s living room.”
She repeated the claim at separate campaign stops on Saturday, adding that Mr Obama “is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America”.
Palin who uses the excuse that the subject of Bill Ayers hasn’t been in the news, and clearly needs to read more of those newspapers she is famous for reading. The story has in fact been covered by all major newspapers, and long before Sarah Palin discovered the story. This pit bull isn’t known for her smarts, is she? Barack America doesn’t see America as Palin sees it? No, he doesn’t see Russia and Afghanistan from his house, and knows Palin’s warped notion of geography means she really can’t see Russia from her house, either.

If anyone is unpatriotic it’s healther wilson. George W. Bush is not America. He is a President and a shitty one at that.
I don’t recall any of these wingnuts saying it was unpatriotic to criticize Bill Clinton. In fact they made a living doing it.
In Ms. Palin’s defense, she’s reading the cue cards she’s given… McCain is responsible for how his campaign is being run…. any and ALL comments coming from Ms. Palin have been approved by Crash McCain and his brain trust…
Now with that said, what ever Ms. Palin brings up on her own (and I don’t believe that the Ayers and Wright attack lines are her idea) should be thrown in McCain’s face and he should either have to agree or disavow it… As he should with the Ayers line of attack…
You are correect, sukabi. Palin is reading from a script. It would be interesting to know if there was any push back. Otherwise, she is willingly reading from the smear script, and thus she gets blame as well.
Oh, I know she’s a gleeful participant in this whole thing… her blind ambition is on display for all to see…
and it’s to the benefit of the country that McCain pulled her out of obscurity to be his running mate… she hasn’t had the time to hone her snake oil selling skillz and as such she’s coming off as a huge phony to those who use their eyes, ears and brains… while to the others who blindly follow the “party line” she’s just great..
