Online 100 Poll: Even Wingnuts Expect Obama to Win
The PoliticsHome Online 100 poll is a daily survey of the top 100 bloggers and political pundits in the U.S. Today’s survey includes a weekly prognostication of the winner of Presidential Idol. In an almost amazing set of results, only 5% of the right wing political intelligencia now expects McCain to win, with a confidence level of 7.2.
About a month ago, I was invited to participate in the Online 100 Poll at politicshome.com. Here’s a description of the O-100:
The PoliticsHome Online 100 Panel consists of the 100 leading online voices in the United States. Each day until November 4th, the ‘Online100′ panel will answer 5 strategic questions anonymously and the results will be posted on PoliticsHome. The panel includes Arianna Huffington, Karl Rove, Joe Klein, Joe Trippi, Mike Allen, Mark Halperin, Mark Blumenthal, Dana Milbank, Jonah Goldberg, John Fund, Jake Tapper, Chuck Todd, Marc Ambinder and Andrew Sullivan.
Ok, so my name isn’t listed with the above luminaries, but it’s nice that my “vote” counts as much as that of Karl Rove or John Fund. Generally, the poll is conducted early each morning, and results are posted the following day. I received advance results of today’s poll just a few minutes ago, and the responses to one question are quite astounding:
Only 5% of the right-leaning bloggers and pundits, who are certainly more wired in than the average low information voter, expect McCain to win in November. None of the left-leaners or centrists predict a PALIN/McCain win. And more importantly, the confidence level in the predictions from the entire Online 100 crew is an amazing 7.2, on a scale of 1 - 10.
The PALIN / McCain ticket is clearly tanking. When even the most rabid right wingers see the handwriting on the wall, that’s gotta count for something.
