The Right Wing Whack Jobs Speak! Who Do they Love?
What do Republican bloggers think? It seems, from the evidence of their own polls, that they are Palin supporters. Maybe they should name their kids “trigger” or something. The indication here is that the Republicans are not going to reform themselves anytime soon.
The right wing bloggers have spoken. They’ve been quizzed. They’ve made their opinions known. In the midst of the Repoublicans deciding which direction their party should go, the right wing bloggers have told them the direction they should go, and that is towards the whack job ribght wing social issues. That pleases me, since the polls say otherwise. Who do they Love? Let’s take a look. From Right Wing News we see a poll about who the right wing bloggers love, the top ten:
11) Jim DeMint (10)
9) Ann Coulter (11)
9) Thomas Sowell (11)
7) Michael Steele (12)
7) Michelle Malkin (12)
6) Mark Steyn (13)
5) Newt Gingrich (17)
4) Fred Thompson (18)
3) Bobby Jindal (22)
2) Rush Limbaugh (29)
1) Sarah Palin (33)
Oh, lots of giggles here. They like Palin and Limbuagh? Oh, that should make all of us on the liberal side feel good, that they invest their faith in people who Americans see as suspect, if not worse. It’s more interesting, I think, to see the list of people among Republicans these folks think are a problem, the Republicans they hate.
11) 10) Arnold Schwarzenegger (12)
7) Mike Huckabee (13)
7) Pat Buchanan (13)
7) Ron Paul (13)
6) Chuck Hagel (14)
5) Arlen Specter (15)
4) Colin Powell (17)
3) Peggy Noonan (18)
2) Ted Stevens (19)
1) John McCain (25)
Check out the difference here. The bloggers are not interested in compromise, that’s for sure. But it is clear that the dominance among these right wing whack jobs is about extremist right wing social conservatives. That spells trouble for the Republicans as they try to rebuild their party. Sure, they may decide that they must emphasize social issues even more, but national demograhics will tell them they are wrong on that score.
There’s no positives for these folks if they attend to the wishes of their grass root bloggers. That makes me, as a liberal, grin really big.

But it is clear that the dominance among these right wing whack jobs is about extremist right wing social conservatives.
Actually, the divide appears to mostly be between “people who toe the party line” and “people who give criticism of the party line”. With John McCain fitting into the second camp and one all his own - “LOSERS”. Huckabee, Buchanan, Paul and Hagel are all social conservatives to a large degree (moreso than Ahnold, Specter, McCain or Powell for example), but neither Buchanan nor Paul are big on the American Imperialism Project, Hagel isn’t big on pointless wars, and Huckabee knows that occasionally to have a functional government you have to raise revenue. Those are all viewpoints that diverge from the overall party line - and in wingnut land if you don’t hold every single belief that the party has, you don’t get to be a member.
The rightwing bloggers are upset at anyone who moves outside their narrow spectrum of what constitutes conservative thinking. That’s not terribly surprising - they all seem to want to be Rush Limbaugh and that’s his schtick. First he defines what it means to be conservative, then he berates anyone who calls themselves a conservative who steps outside the box he’s drawn. Having learned from the master, right wing bloggers are doing the same thing. Anyone who steps outside the narrow box of neocon foreign policy, social conservative domestic policy, and anti-tax wingnut economic policy gets branded a RINO and screamed at by the talking heads on the radio (led by Limbaugh). The right wing bloggers just follow their lead - it’s amazing to me how much of right blogistan seems to exist just to parrot what Limbaugh and other radio guys say on their shows.
Rush Limbaugh wannabes? Never thought of it that way. So they want to be the one’s to have thought up such clever words as “feminazi.” I’ll buy it.
Oh they absolutely want to be Rush Limbaugh. In the game of conservative BS artists, Limbaugh is the king. The ones who have been in the game a long time (those on the talk radio side) envy his success and want to emulate him. The ones who are relatively new to the game (the bloggers mostly) grew up thinking that Limbaugh WAS conservatism. In the late 80s and early 90s - before the web - he was the guy that young conservatives would listen to, and the positions he presented WERE what conservatism was to a lot of young conservatives out there - especially those in the rust belt, corn belt and bible belt areas of the country.
I speak here as a reformed conservative from the rust belt who consumed a steady diet of Limbaugh until I hit college in ‘92 - and someone who knew a lot of conservatives in my college years who were exactly the same way. So the right-wing blogger heritage is dead obvious to me. It’s also why I think so many of them don’t have comments on their blogs - because Limbaugh doesn’t allow dissent on his show. While Limbaugh may not be the architect of the modern conservative movement he’s it’s shepherd and what passes for its soul. Kinda scary, don’t you think?
I think they love any authoritarian way of thought.
They believe in a “free market”, but hate ndividual freedom. They love a “strong leader”! They lov fear for fears sake to undermine the free spirited minds of men!
If these people were born in North Korea, they would kiss Kim Ill Sungs backside becaus he and his poisoness minions are appealing to thegullible idiots “patriotism”.
They would be stalinists o nazis in the 30’s. ‘
Give me 5 minues air time with Coulter, Limbaugh, O’Reilly or Hannity or Clmes for that matter, and I would give them the proper defintions of the words they are abusing.
Should we ask us the big question: Who are Arnld Schwarzenegge really? We know he’s Austrian:A country of skiiers, culture, music, literature and knowledge. Who gave birhto the nazi King Hitler and a world of oppressed conservative insanity.
Ther rest of the freaks in yourlist is jut the run of the mill stupidity and fundie madness. I think that a maority of your (Am.public) is sick and tired of fear and power mongers for profit.
You seem to have woken up with this election. This is the US that I once loved. But t willtake more than that for me to have complete faithin you again. Yes! I was one of the people who
loved America. But my love went over to coolness and then plain contempt. You can blame my time in Horton, Kansas for that. Of all the citiies and towns I have been to all over the world, this small one horse town was one of the freaiest when it came to freeper madness.
II was there almost 20 years ago. And the signs were already there during those times. Now, freepers are besides themselves because they have to witness democracy at work!
And soon, when they somehow get their heads out of thir bibles and smell reality and true spiriualsim and tolerance, mybe they would learn how to become human.
