A guy was arrested the other day for plotting on the internet to assassinate Barack Obama. No, the guy was probably not a serious threat, but I praise the Secret Service for their no tolerance policy concerning threats to Mr. Obama. Hey, and it’s good to get some of these nutcases off the street. But Steven Joseph Christopher’s statement on the web is fairly ludicrous, and that goes beyong the ugly grammar and all. He states at one point that he’s not racist. Of course this is being reported everywhere, such as on Reuters and Huffington Post, but I’ll quote from CBS News, where they have this racist nutjob’s words:

The alleged postings have not been edited by CBS News and are reproduced here as they appeared in the press release. Although the Department of Justice excised expletives and racial slurs, the postings still contain offensive content.

Yes, I have decided I will assasinate Barack Obama. It’s really nothing personal about the man. He speaks well, has a loving although controlling wife and two cute daughters. But I know it’s for the country’s own good that I do this. And I’m not racist either, my family is a little, but isn’t all Italian and european families? I mean how many times have you heard the word (racial slur) in the comforts of your home? I have a lot, and it really bothered me and I would confront them about it. No, it’s not because I’m racist that I will kill Barack, it’s because I can no longer allow the Jewish parasites to bully their way into making the American people submit to their evil ways. How many of you Obama supporters are now disappointed after some of his arm-twisted Jewish appointee decisions??? Make’s you think he’s not really in charge(which he isn’t). No it’s the same old, same old filthy (expletive) (racial slur) who are poisoning America, who have murdered thousands of innocent lives on 9-11-01, and are thinking that they are going to get away with it again.

Barack, I view more as a sacrificial lamb, but the sacrifice MUST take place. He had good intentions, but like the Steve Taylor song goes, “a politician next door, swore, he’d set the Washington arena on fire, thinks he’ll gladiate them, but they’re gonna make him a liar.”

So, I’m stuck here in Mississippi, and I’ll need bus fare or some way of getting to Washington. I don’t own a gun, so maybe someone can give me one. And I’ll need a leak in the secret service to get a close up shot, somewhere close to the podium, since I’ve never fired a gun, so I need to get an easy shot off. Wattdysay fellas? Any help?

That’s just amazing. The guy’s handle on just what it means to be racist is just freakingly amazing. Evidently it refers only to Barack Obama’s race, because this guy thinks his virulent anti-semitism somehow doesn’t count. What a stupid loony toon!

OK, I think it fair to note that CBS News did not comment on this eccentric notion of racism, where the guy thinks he is not a racist, though he is planning to assassinate a black man because he is supposedly a puppet of Jews. I know that CBS News is supposed to objective, but if there is any objective reality in our culture is should be that such attitudes, towards African Americans, towards Jews, towards gays, towards any ethnic group, should not be tolerated at all.

No, this is not about my adopting an African American child and planning to raise him in the Jewish tradition. This is about all of us standing up against every incident of hate in this country. For God’s sake we’ve got religious whack jobs like Joseph Farah openly praying that Barack Obama fails, an act that borders on both treason and racism. For God’s sake this whack job is the Founder of WingNutDaily! How far apart are the views of Steven Joseph Christopher, the would be Obama assassin, and Joseph Farah, the man who prays for failure? I think not far at all. I do not expect anyone on the right wing to condemn Farah’s actions, however. He is, for so many Republicans, a representative of the ugliness of their “base.”

Let’s be clear. I can respect a God of love. I can respect praying to a God for support, to help others, to guide our lives. Asking God to make a good man fail is outside the bounds of any legitimate religion. As such, Joseph Farah is morally without a rudder.
